The Egawas acted as chief administrator of Imperial demesne Izu as direct feudatory of a shogun in progenies of Yamato Genji which lasted 42 generations, 900 years for 273 years for 11 generations in the Edo era. Each successive chief administrators pours will in peace and order maintenance and civil administration, and peasant rising is never taking place. 36s Tarozaemon Egawa (*an) was known as excellent chief administrator and left in particular great achievements such as coast surveying, Nirayama reverberatory furnace and construction of Odaiba, our country's first style sailing boat building and conduct of smallpox vaccination, bread production from the need of coastal defense.
